So,  Happy Valentine’s Day and now I want to share with you my new release – The Source. Please enjoy.

The Source_Version 4 Flat MedMy newest creation just for you, available now. Please enjoy an excerpt from The Source. Enjoy!

The Source Excerpt:

He barely took note of the white stairs with the silver banister and the overhead lighting which made the silver shine brilliantly. No, he was completely captivated and transfixed by the angel descending the stairs as if she were coming down from the heavens themselves.
No, not an angel, because she was even more beautiful than the angels. She was so tiny in comparison to all the other women he had ever been with, her height being no more than five foot three at the most. Her waist was tiny but she was filled out in all the right places and he clenched his hands with the desire to touch every inch of her. The jeans and pink t-shirt she wore fit her to perfection accentuating her curves. As she moved with such grace and delicacy her long honey blond hair brushed her shoulders and her golden skin glowed with health under the overhead lights.
Completely captivated, all Nathan could do was watch her as she reached the bottom of the stairs. Silently she approached him, almost like a cat, her eyes downcast so that all he could do was look at the perfect sweeping honey blond lashes covering her eyes and the full pink lips which suddenly had his full attention. All of that changed, though, when she stopped before him, only inches away, and looked at him with the lightest blue eyes he had ever been blessed to see. In that moment he couldn’t move, he couldn’t breathe, and Nathan knew in an instant he was in deep, deep trouble.
“Hi. I’m Crystal,” was all she said but the sound of her melodic voice traveled the entire length of his body.
“Hi, I’m…” the sound of his voice was raspy and he cleared his throat before continuing. “I’m Companion 96.”
Crystal’s eyebrows drew together and she bit at her bottom lip. Nathan couldn’t help the instant draw of his eyes to her sweet mouth. At that moment he absolutely cursed the person who had made up the rule of no touching. What he would give to have just one kiss from her sweet sensual mouth. He wondered what she would taste like and his mouth watered almost in anticipation.
His concentration snapped back as she asked, “What do I call you? I can’t call you by a number. What is your birth name?”
Nathon narrowed his eyes on her. How in the hell had she known he had a birth name? “Perhaps I don’t have a birth name. I am Companion 96, purchased for your entertainment.”
“Really?” She raised up on her tiptoes and leaned so close, he swore he could feel her breath on his cheek. The vanilla scent of her body surrounded him and he clenched his hands even harder as her soft voice vibrated through him again. “You have piercings in your ears, so I assumed you were naturally birthed. BioGen doesn’t allow body modifications for those they create.”
Nathan wanted to answer, really he did, but Crystal’s nearness was over-charging his body and short-circuiting his brain. He had never experienced anything like it before and he had no idea how he was going to keep his hands off of the tiny angel before him for the next few hours, let alone thirty days. He was in deep and over his head with no escape.
Like a moth to a flame, Nathan was drawn to the closeness of Crystal’s lips but as he began to dip his head the slightest amount in her direction, she evidently realized how close she was to him. Making a tiny sound, she stepped back resuming her initial position in front of him. The distance didn’t help much but enough so he could respond with some modicum of intelligence. “You are correct, Crystal. I did have a birth name. My parents called me Nathan but I don’t remember a last name. I’m sorry.”
Quietly she said, “Nathan. It’s a wonderfully masculine name. Thank you for sharing it with me. If you will allow me, I will call you by your birth name. Please?”

The Source – Meme #5 – They will defy a futuristic society to reclaim the freedom to love.

logo book hooksWelcome to my blog site and the Book Hooks Blog Hop Book Hooks is a weekly meme hosted by the MFRW Authors Blog. I am Christine Murphy, romance author and creator of the Sphinx Warriors Series, The Source – A Wild Clan Saga Novel, and the Midnight Rider’s Series.

Here is the next meme from The Source for your enjoyment.

As the elevator lifted him to the upper level of the main Courtyard building, Nathan buttoned up his jacket and then checked to make sure there was no lint clinging to the softest of silk fabrics.  Expensive and rare, it was only the best for Nathan.  His Handler would have it no other way, as he was the best in her corral of studs and wanted him shown off in the finest.  He was her money maker since he was in his prime by her clients’ standards.  Personally, he would have been happy with a nice pair of jeans and a comfortable shirt, but his owner would hear none of it.

Smoothly coming to a stop, the elevator doors opened and Nathan exited, striding over to the first artificial wood door that stood straight in front of him.  Not bothering to knock or give any kind of warning, he jerked open the front door and pushed his way inside.  His Handler, of course, was sitting at her large, polished redwood desk, looking already agitated from waiting from his tardiness.  Again, he really didn’t care, but the sight of her red face – which almost matched her red hair – was satisfying.

Stalking over to the leather chair positioned in front of her desk, he didn’t even bother to say hi.  With an exaggerated sigh, he sank down into the chair and throwing caution to the wind swung his feet up, propping them right on the top of her desk.  Crossing his legs at the ankle, he gave her one of his winning smiles and sarcastically greeted, “Hi, Reena.  How’s tricks?”

Reena’s eyes bulged, and if possible her face turned even redder.  She shot up from the desk and in a screeching voice screamed, “Damn it, Companion 96.  How many times do I have to tell you to call me Handler?  Do you think I’m your buddy or something?  And get your damn feet off my desk.  Just because you’re my highest earning Companion, don’t think you can take advantage.”

Ah yes, there it was.  Another rush of adrenaline coursed through his system and made his body hum.  Being constantly yelled at was the only drawback, but at least Reena didn’t physically abuse him like other Handlers did their property.  She could be mentally abusive, though, with her sharp Gen tongue, and she knew how to cut him deep when she thought he was being bad by sending him to the most detached unemotional Gens she could find.  Most Gens had very little emotion anyway, but when she sent him to those who had none at all he came away from the experience feeling dead inside; hence, his new hobby of seeing how pissed off he could make her without crossing the line.

If you enjoyed the meme, please enjoy another excerpt from The Source. Enjoy! The Source_Version 4 Flat Med

The Source Excerpt:

Right before his lips touched hers, the sound of the evening fifteen minute curfew warning went off. Crystal jumped and Nathan instantly pulled back.

“Damn it. I’m sorry, Crystal, I was so caught up in the moment I lost track of time.”

Grasping at his jacket, Crystal cried, “Nathan we have to get back. This is all my fault. If we get caught after curfew, they’ll take you away and maybe punish you. I should have never talked you into this.”

Tears streamed down her face and she swiped at them in fear for Nathan and for her. BioGen would probably punish her as well, and the things they could do terrified her. She choked, her body shaking, and her pulse rate went through the roof. Nathan seemed to try and calm her brushing the tears away but there just wasn’t any time and she fought to get a grip on her runaway emotions.

“Listen. I can get us back in plenty of time but you need to calm down. Do you trust me?” he asked while he pulled her hood back up over her face and followed up with his own to hide his.

Still gripping his jacket and feeling shaky, she nodded and whispered, “I do trust you, Nathan.”

With an encouraging look he reassured her, “Good. Just hold on tight and I’ll get us back to The Inspire. You just be ready with that magic necklace of yours to get us back into the building so no one will suspect we were ever gone. Ready?”

Crystal took a deep breath and nodded. It was the only acknowledgement Nathan appeared to need and after he grasped her hand in a firmer grip than earlier, he led her back out of the circle of bushes. Once on the path, he sped up into a fast jog and she had to push herself into a full out run to keep up with him. He was fast compared to her and she was panting before they even went a few feet but she was determined to get him back to her condo safely. Together they covered quite a bit of distance even making it to the large crack in the blacktop they had passed earlier. Nathan eased them both around the gap and Crystal began to breathe easier.

Just when she was sure they were going to make it in time, Crystal saw two Nul guards approaching with BioGen uniforms on, evidently making their last rounds. Pulling back against Nathan’s forward progression, she urgently whispered, “Nathan, BioGen guards.”

Immediately, Nathan steered both of them off the blacktop and over to one of the large trees bordering along the path. As soon as they were under the large spread of branches he spun her around and pushed her back against the trunk. The bark was rough but Nathan’s body surrounding and pressing against her was rock hard. He felt good and she felt protected but the Nul’s were getting so close and she could see them watching. She started to shake with nerves because she was sure they were going to get caught.

Nathan shifted slightly blocking her completely from the guard’s view. He leaned against his arm which he had positioned above her forming a protective cocoon around her. He leaned down just enough so he could push her hood back with his free hand and put his lips near her ear. Crystal could feel his warm breath brush against her and the sensation made her shiver for a different reason.

“Crystal, I need you to relax. You’re just a Gen with her purchased Companion enjoying an intimate moment together. The Nuls won’t know any different unless we give them a reason to,” Nathan whispered, his voice vibrating through her body as he pressed his body against hers.

Perhaps it was to distract her, or to convince the Nul’s they were enjoying an intimate moment, or just because he wanted to, but Nathan was suddenly kissing the sensitive spot just below her ear. She closed her eyes gasping at the incredible sensation, her body tingling from the point of contact all the way to her core. She fisted her hands in his jacket trying to keep her legs from buckling from the weakness he was causing. He didn’t stop there, oh no, he continued in his exploration with those wonderful tingling kisses until he reached her collarbone where he gently nipped and then kissed her again. She whimpered and her legs would have buckled if not for his strong arm around her waist supporting her.

Here is the next meme from The Source for your enjoyment.

Slamming his sports car back into gear, he quickly accelerated up the ramp and onto the entry platform.  Once he had the Puma positioned next to the entry elevator, he powered it down with the touch of his thumb to the ignition plate.  Looking into the mirror at his reflection, he made sure not even a hair was out of place.  God forbid his Handler have any excuse to yell at him about his appearance.  She could go on for hours about grooming and his need to look like the Companion he should be.

She would be satisfied today, though, because his sandy brown hair highlighted with the faintest touch of golden blond was perfectly layered and spiked to perfection.  His complexion was flawless, and his unusual green eyes sparkled with health, not even any redness, even though he had hammered down a shot of whiskey before leaving his apartment.   He even sported the faintest stubble above his lip and on his jawline to give the roguish look all the women appeared to like.

Satisfied he looked the part of his hated Companion existence, Nathan opened the Puma door and pushed himself out of the sports car, standing to his full height.  By most standards he was a tall man, topping off at six feet, but compared to some of the Nul females he was just average.  Grabbing his black silk jacket off the back of his seat, he shut the door and moved over to the elevator.  He pressed his thumb to the access panel, and the elevator doors instantly opened for him.

Slipping into his jacket, he stepped inside and selected the 18th floor, where his Handler’s office resided.  Right before the doors whisked shut, he watched as his Puma was robotically taken away by the platform to be deposited somewhere in the parking deck.  He knew his most prized possession would be safe here because of the state of the art security system.  Anyone trying to tamper with his Puma would be zapped on the spot.  Effective and deadly.

Here is the next meme from The Source for your enjoyment.

With only a few minutes left before he missed his arrival time and got an earful from his Handler, Nathan aggressively wove between the competing drivers and their cars the last three miles.  In record time, he traveled the remaining few blocks until he saw the Courtyard up ahead and all of its majestic, towering buildings.  Of course, the grandest, largest eyesore was the building where his owner had her office staged because in her opinion, she had the best Companion agency with the most sensual men and deserved the extravagance and the exposure.  Whatever.

Performing a tight right turn at the end of the block and then another left between the buildings, Nathan sped his Puma toward the parking deck.  Slowing down at the last second, he pulled up to the Security station at the opening to the deck and rolled down his dark, tinted automatic window.  The tall, black-haired Nul female guard with her dark brown eyes pinned him with a cold stare.  Yeah, he could tell he had pissed her off with his reckless speeding and last minute screeching halt next to her station, but he didn’t care.  The rush of the speed and the possibility of a face-to-face confrontation was just too tempting to pass up.

As the guard approached him, Nathan prepared himself for the tongue lashing he knew he was about to get, but right before she reached him she stopped.  Placing her hand to the earpiece in her ear, the guard tilted her head, listening to a call she had evidently received.  After a moment, she finished her approach and leaned down to the point where he could see down her shirt.  Not that it was enticing in the least.  Nuls were basically flat chested and reminded Nathan more of a feminized male than a woman.  Looking up into her face, he found the Nul guard smirking at him.

“You go on, Companion.  Your Handler is calling to see if you’ve shown up.”  The guard glanced down at his body, her expression repulsive to him, as her eyes roamed every inch of his frame.  Glancing back at his face, she purred, “Too bad I don’t have the money.  I’d love to straddle that tight body of yours.  If you ever feel like handing out a freebie, you know where to find me.”

When she turned her back on him and walked around the front of his Puma, Nathan had the intense compulsion to rev his engine and run over her.  Unfortunately, he knew he could never do it.  The action would probably have him executed the next day, if he were lucky.  More than likely, they would just mind-fuck him again, and he was already screwed up enough as it was.

Sneak Peak Sunday Blog Hop – January 12, 2014

Gabriel - Leader of the Midnight Riders

Gabriel – Leader of the Midnight Riders

Welcome to the next hop in the Sneak Peek Sunday Blog Hop and my blog site. I am Christine Murphy, paranormal romance author and creator of the Sphinx Warriors Series, The Source (Book 1 of The Wild Clan Sagas), and the Midnight Rider’s Series.

For your enjoyment, here is an excerpt from a book which is currently in editing and soon to be out just for you. Please enjoy Road To Redemption, the first book in The Midnight Riders Series. Enjoy!

The Road To Redemption Excerpt:

Trust him. How could Destinee trust him? How could she trust anything? Especially what she had just witnessed and what she was witnessing now. Her mind was freaking, her heart was pounding, she couldn’t catch her breath, and there was no way in hell she was even capable of sane thoughts at the moment. Distracted and lost, she just stared at him until from the corner of her eye, she saw the thing on the floor try and push upright. The instant it moved she shot out the door with a speed she didn’t think she had. She was sure Gabriel could have stopped her but instead he turned towards the creature swinging his sword in a violent downward swing.

As soon as her foot hit outside the door, Destinee slid across the mud soaked ground and went down in a splash of water. In an instant she pushed back up on her feet winded from the effort and with a half sob, half curse dove into the knee deep water at the bottom of the incline where the shower house stood. Struggling against the water swirling around her legs, the rain beating down on her head, and the wind that was whipping furiously against her she ran. She ran away from the creature intent on killing her and away from Gabriel, whatever he might be. The thought of running away from him hurt, though, and she slowed until she was standing in the middle of a world that had blown up and gone crazy around her.

If she could feel the tears running down her face she knew she would have brushed them away in fury. But she couldn’t. She was too soaked and freezing. Wrapping her arms around her burning throbbing middle she just stood there until she heard the sloshing behind her. Something in her snapped and she refused to go down without a fight.

Spinning around she faced whatever new threat was coming to attack with hands balled in fists at her side. Instead of another grotesque creature, before her was Gabriel, standing only a few feet away from her. His sword was no longer in sight but the golden glow in his eyes and the knowledge of the fangs in his mouth brought her up short. He looked dejected and at the same time worried for her but he didn’t approach her any closer. He just stood there in the pouring rain and the whipping wind as the trees twisted and shifted dangerously around them. Conflicted, Destinee wasn’t sure if she wanted to fight him or throw herself into his arms.

As earlier, he reached out with his hand and pleaded with her, “Please Destinee, we need to go. They’re coming and I need to get you to safety. I swear, I won’t hurt you.”

Destinee so wanted to reach out to him. Everything in her called to wipe out the lonely expression that consumed him and even made the golden glow dim in his eyes. But still she needed to know the truth. Breathlessly she asked, “What are you Gabriel? Are you vam…”

“No!” He vehemently denied, his expression falling into the depths of despair even further. “Don’t say that word. I hate it. What I am is a punishment for a past I am still paying for but I am not something humans have created in their minds. I’m not like the Scythian demons. I have control!”

She wasn’t sure how much control he really had but she believed him and strangely she didn’t fear him. Even with the glow in his eyes that was fading further as he stood there appearing to try and get control of himself. She could tell the inner battle he waged by the clench of his jaw and the balling of his hands into fists. Even his strong shoulders shook with the effort but in only a few seconds the gold was gone and his sky blue eyes were looking back at her with barely concealed despair. He thought she had already judged him and perhaps for a moment she had judged him but thinking on his kindness and the fact he had saved her multiple times now he couldn’t be evil. Could he?

Closer than before Destinee heard the screams of the evil dead things answered by the creature in the shower building. She shivered in revulsion just being able to see the almost beheaded evil dragging itself to the open door. Wrapping her arms around herself Destinee felt the urge to cut and run again but stopped when Gabriel reached out to her.

“We don’t have any more time, Destinee. Please let me get you out of here. I can protect and keep you alive. I swear it.” He stood there waiting for her decision, never forcing her, with a desperation now creeping into his blue eyes.

Destinee just didn’t have it in her to deny him any longer. Deep down she knew he wouldn’t harm her especially since he had risked himself and saved her already. Not once, but three times now. She was an idiot if she didn’t go with him. The trust she had in him came back with a vengeance and meeting his eyes she demanded, “Fine. I believe you but you’ve got to tell me what the hell is going on. Whatever the truth is.”
Gabriel nodded to her and said thickly, “I will, I promise. Just let me get you out of here.”

Feeling a large portion of the fear lift from her shoulders, Destinee stepped forward to grasp his hand. As soon as she stepped forward the pull of the water at her legs, the exhaustion, and the light headedness from what she suspected was loss of blood got to her. Her vision blurred and she started to go down, but just like that Gabriel scooped her up with no effort at all. Spinning on his heal with ease, he cut through the water moving back over to his Harley in only a second. The movement was so quick Destinee’s head spun which didn’t help her light headedness.

When he stopped by his Harley she felt him stiffen for a moment and then draw in a deep breath. “Destinee are you injured?” She didn’t say anything for a moment not wanting him to have to baby her again. “Destinee answer me,” he demanded.

The Source – Meme #2 – Together they will defy a futuristic society to reclaim love.

logo book hooksWelcome to my blog site and the Book Hooks Blog Hop Book Hooks is a NEW weekly meme hosted by the MFRW Authors Blog. It’s a chance for all you great readers to check out samples of author’s WIPs or previously published books. I am Christine Murphy, romance author and creator of the Sphinx Warriors Series, The Source – A Wild Clan Saga Novel, and the Midnight Rider’s Series.

Here is the next meme from The Source for your enjoyment.

BioGen had said it was mind training, but Nathan thought of it as surviving through a painful nightmare of fiery hell.  The technology took control of his emotions and mind-fucked him until he had no desire to break the rules ever again. Even the thought of taking a knife and digging into the base of his skull to remove the damn tagging device left him sweating and shaken.  Not that he could have dug it out anyway because it was implanted so deep that it would have killed him.  It had only taken BioGen twenty-four hours to break him, and since then he had become numb.  The only thing now was continuing to drag himself from day to day and trying to find some joy in his enslaved life.

Shaking his head at the morose thoughts, Nathan glanced down at the huge sprawl of Denver, its magnitude of skyscrapers towering above the ant-sized citizens of the city.  From up at the height he was hovering, the site could almost be considered beautiful with the multitude of lights winking up at him like stars.  Down below, he knew the life of Denver could either raise you to heights of ecstasy or drag you to the pits of torment.  He had experienced both in his lifetime, but either way he hated the city because it was a constant reminder of who controlled his life and everyone else’s.  At the very dead heart of this city was BioGen, once a genetic technology industry of the far past, but now a governmental entity in its own right that was slowly squeezing the life out of everyone.

“Approaching off-ramp to the Courtyard District,” said the smooth non-gender voice of his Puma right before he saw the small blinking neon sign indicating the exit.

Nathan switched on his signal and then activated the disengagement system from the hover lanes.  From the roof of his sports car, he heard the metallic click of the engaging mechanism detach from the overhead infrastructure.  As soon as the glowing light on his dashboard turned green, indicating a successful uncoupling, he turned the wheel and expertly maneuvered into the off-ramp airspace lined with guide-lights.  Slowly, he spiraled his car down towards the ground lanes of downtown Denver, adjusting the hover-turbines and rotating the Puma’s tires to their vertical positions.   With a practiced technique, he touched down with the smoothest of contact and the tires instantly picked up the forward momentum, rolling him into the ground traffic.

Please?”
