Welcome to the next hop in Sneak Peak Sunday and my blog site.  I am Christine Murphy, paranormal romance author and creator of the Sphinx Warriors Series and the Midnight Rider’s Series.  The first book of the Sphinx Warriors Series, Sphinx Resurrected, is now available at Red Sage Publishing and other participating book sales locations.  Please enjoy the second sneak peak of Sphinx Resurrected:

Michael moved around her, temporarily removing his hands from the back of her neck and her hip.  He circled her, stalking her as if he was hunting her.  Finally, he stopped in front of her but didn’t quite touch her.  Stormy wasn’t sure what to expect from him, but stood breathlessly waiting.   He looked at her with such intensity and hunger she felt like she was falling into his dark blue eyes.  She reached out to initiate the Transference grip but Michael would have none of that.    Evading her initial touch, he reached out capturing her at her lower back and pulled her up hard against him. He entrapped her hands, palm down, against his chest.  His other hand burrowed back up under her hair massaging the nape of her neck. She liked this hold so much better.

Wanting to begin the Transference to him, Stormy wished he would get on with his pledge.  Michael didn’t disappoint focusing in only on her. His pledge was for her and her alone. “Beloved Power Keeper, I Michael, Khenti of the Sphinx Warriors, marked by the Crown of Leaders, and called in the old tongue, Kambythet ask for the gift of Life Power.  May my Beloved’s Transference make me whole and give me strength for the battle to come.”

Surrounded by the Warriors in their circle, Stormy heard them whispering in the background.   She couldn’t make out what they were saying but there was something special in what Michael was trying to tell her.  The voices around her faded away as she became aware of Michael’s physical reaction to her.

Stormy could feel Michael shaking, every inch of him tense.  His control was immense.  She suspected his inner Sphinx was ready to pounce but he was disciplined enough to not let himself completely go.  Why did he do that, hold himself back? It was a wonder he didn’t hurt himself.  His words were spoken with such gentleness though, asking her for what he needed with every inch of his being.  How could she not give him the gift of the Life Power?  And she would without having to worry about holding anything back with him.

Blog Hop: Sneak Peak Sunday – February 17

Welcome to the next hop in Sneak Peak Sunday and my blog site.  I am Christine Murphy, paranormal romance author and creator of the Sphinx Warriors Series and the Midnight Rider’s Series.  The first book of the Sphinx Warriors Series, Sphinx Resurrected, is now available at Red Sage Publishing and other participating book sales locations.  Please enjoy the following sneak peak of Sphinx Resurrected:

Michael was spell-bound watching her.  At first, he thought perhaps she wanted to just have the feel of the fresh grass under her feet while searching out the Life Force.  But to his surprise, she was quite the quick study.  As soon as she had made contact with the bare earth and searched the Life Power out, it had been drawn to her like it had been waiting for her forever.  It embraced her much like the way he wanted to.  To surround her in his energy and enjoy every square inch of her while she responded to him in a way the pure rapture on her face indicated she was responding now.  He watched and almost felt he was guilty of spying on something intimate.  She was a natural, harnessing the Life Power and quickly her body showed it.  Her skin was sparkling and glowing from head to toe and he could see where her eyelashes were brushing her cheeks there was a slight glow coming from her eyes.  He realized he had to intervene or she would quickly absorb too much.  Being her first experience, his little Power Keeper could quickly get into trouble with what to do with it and possibly injure herself or someone near her.  Had he known her intentions, he would have cautioned her on how far to go with this first experience.

He stepped up as close as possible to her as he could.  Reaching out, he moved to place his hands on specific spots used for contact during the Transference of Life Power. He had to place them correctly to make sure there was no back lash from the Life Power rampantly running through her.  He grasped both of her arms with his hands positioned under her forearms and slid them as close as possible to her elbows.  Luckily, with the movement, Stormy naturally grasped his forearms with her hands.  He leaned forward and whispered in her ear, “Stormy, I hate to interrupt your enjoyment, but this is the first time for you as a Power Keeper, and any more we will both be in trouble.”  On so many levels – he groaned in his mind.

Stormy appeared to come back to herself from the raw pleasure of the Life Power. She evidently had been way too enjoying herself.  She was gripping his arms so tightly, he was surprised he had any circulation to his hands.  He was so close to her, he could hear the panting of her breath near his ear. To his dismay, the huge amount of energy spiraling throughout her body was enormous and he really didn’t know what the next steps were to ease her discomfort.  Michael felt the tremors running through Stormy’s body and her heart rate and breathing increase even more.  He knew she was beginning to panic and he had to calm her before the situation went south.

“It’s alright, I have you.”  At least he hoped he did.  He had to calm her down and bring her confidence back which she so courageously showed a moment before.  “Open your eyes and concentrate on me, Stormy.”  She opened her eyes looking directly at him.  As always when he looked at her, he could feel himself drowning in those brilliant sea green eyes that were now glowing so softly.  “Concentrate on me.  I’m going to link with you and the flow of the Life Power.  You’ll feel me and I’ll guide you to release the energy back into your surroundings.  Slowly so you don’t disturb the rhythm but quickly enough so it’s directed into the right location.”

“Can’t I transfer it to you?”  She inquired innocently.

Michael’s entire body wanted that on so many levels but now was not the time.  “Not yet.  This experience is new to you and we need to take this one step at a time.  Ready?”  She paused, but then with a deep breath gave the affirmative nod.  He smiled reassuringly at her even though he was unsure of the outcome of controlling this much Life Power.  He took a deep breath, paused…paused, and then his inner Sphinx side dove in to the bright energy.

Introducing Christine Murphy – Author of SPHINX RESURRECTED

Christine Murphy wanted to create a unique story unlike the usual vampires, demons, angels, shape changers, and other paranormal story lines. What she accomplished was a distinctive world with powerful characters, scenic civilizations, intense conflicts, and the all-important love and passion by reaching back into the Egyptian world and its artifacts. Today there is great mystery and intrigue over how the Egyptian civilization came Leader, who is her mentor, protector, and one true love.

A careerist in clinical laboratory, a wife, and mother, Christine Murphy has tackled the exciting world of the paranormal romance author in her spare time.  An avid romance enthusiast overall, she has long enjoyed delving into new worlds and characters through her imagination and has read hundreds of books through the years.  Having had quite the imagination since childhood, she decided to put all that creativity down on paper and share it with the world.

At the beginning of 2012, Christine came to the conclusion that she wanted to take on the challenge and commit to becoming a serious author.  “After watching my husband go through chemotherapy  and a bone marrow transplant, I really started looking at my own life.  Life is just too short and I wanted to find something that allowed my inner enjoyment of life to blossom and not just go through the everyday existence of being.  I wanted to reach out and share the stories that are brimming over in my imagination and gift them to the romance enthusiasts out there.”

So, starting in March, Christine tackled the creation of her first book set, The Sphinx Warriors Series.  She wanted something unique and not the usual vampire, werewolf, shape-shifter characters of the paranormal.  So she researched time periods of the past that might spark an idea and was inspired by the Egyptian time of Pyramids, Sphinx, deserts, and Warriors.  Thus was born The Sphinx Warriors.

“Actually creating the characters, their social structures, their habitation, and the plot and conflicts to move the story forward was the easy part.  Learning the proper format of the manuscript, query, letters, the synopsis, and querying agents and publishers was the difficult, painful part.  Overall, I can’t complain, though, as many authors out there have been trying to get published for years.  It took me roughly seven months and was offered a contract by Red Sage Publishing.  The first book, Sphinx Resurrected, will be released February 1, 2013.”

The next book in The Sphinx Warriors Series, Sphinx United,  is also complete, and a third being written.  She is also starting work on additional paranormal romances that will include hunky vampires who protect their unsuspecting mortals and angels who will give up heaven to be with their charges.
