Sphinx Transformed Excerpt:

Approaching the edge of the bed, he started to pull the covers back when he noticed she was missing.  He froze in place, not moving a muscle, and quickly called upon all of his senses.  He detected no danger, but he definitely felt he was being stalked.  Slowly, he dropped the covers and carefully turned around scanning the room as he maneuvered.  The shadows were deep but he made out her outline against the wall across from him.  He was entranced when he saw her dark blue eyes glowing mysteriously in the dark.  “Alexandria…”  he breathed right before she pounced knocking him flat on his back onto the bed.

Joshua just laid there sandwiched between the firm bed and Alexandria’s soft skinned body not moving one muscle.  He wasn’t sure of her intentions or if she was fully aware of what she was doing.  Who knew what condition her mind was in with the suppressant running through her system.  She was enticingly positioned over him with her hips straddling his and her hands bracing her upper body above his chest.  Sitting there a moment, she just watched him with an expression he couldn’t read, the glow in her eyes slowly fading.

Raising an arm, she swept back her long main of luxurious midnight black hair out of her way and leaned down near his neck, she inhaled deeply and purred.  He was surprised by the sound since supposedly her Sphinx was no longer within her but either the Wraith was putting on quite the show or they were all wrong.  He hoped for the latter because it would mean there was hope for his Lexi.

Michael was spell-bound watching her. At first, he thought perhaps she wanted to just have the feel of the fresh grass under her feet while searching out the Life Force. But to his surprise, she was quite the quick study. As soon as she had made contact with the bare earth and searched the Life Power out, it had been drawn to her like it had been waiting for her forever. It embraced her much like the way he wanted to. To surround her in his energy and enjoy every square inch of her while she responded to him in a way the pure rapture on her face indicated she was responding now. He watched and almost felt he was guilty of spying on something intimate. She was a natural, harnessing the Life Power and quickly her body showed it. Her skin was sparkling and glowing from head to toe and he could see where her eyelashes were brushing her cheeks there was a slight glow coming from her eyes. He realized he had to intervene or she would quickly absorb too much. Being her first experience, his little Power Keeper could quickly get into trouble with what to do with it and possibly injure herself or someone near her. Had he known her intentions, he would have cautioned her on how far to go with this first experience.

Sphinx United Excerpt:

He waited holding his breath and looked at her beautiful features.  She was still pale, but already he could see improvement.  Her waist length white blond hair was loose and draped around her shoulders sparkling with shine once again.  Light baby blue eyes looked up at him in wonder like she had discovered something incredible.  He had always gotten lost in the depths of her gorgeous sparkling eyes just as he was being drawn in now.  And then his wait was over.  Her fingertips made contact and he was in pure heaven.  Everything for him clicked into place, his entire body singing its joy and need for her.  His inner Sphinx purred in pure contentment.  He just had to hold himself back just a little longer while she explored.

Eleina leaned in closer to him.  She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.  Jacob didn’t move an inch.  Just the look of pleasure on her face was enough to drive him beyond temptation.  She opened her eyes and seemed mesmerized.  She was so close he could feel her gentle breaths across his lips.  A weak thought whispered across their link.  Kiss him?

Well, what an interesting idea Jacob mused.  Her look grew hotter and he felt like he was being caressed by her glance alone.  He was on fire and the trail her fingers blazed made the heat sink further under his skin.  Her fingertips seemed to have a mind of their own as she trailed them down his cheek and then over to his full lips.  Her touch was so soft and delicate across his lips.  He wanted to reach out with his tongue and lick them but he refrained.  Who knew what she would do in her heightened state of awareness.

Sphinx Imagined Excerpt:

Ethan had to get Skye out of there but had no energy to even roll over. He feared he was done but he had to warn her. He couldn’t see her but reached out anyway and hoarsely whispered, “Skye, listen to me. You know me. It’s Ethan.” He gasped and fell into a fit of violent coughing as the Wraith poison worked its damage on him. Taking another breath he tried again. “It’s Ethan. Please listen to me. You have to escape. Go. Hide. You should be safe in your home. My friends will come to help me. I let them know where you are, don’t be afraid of them. Skye?”

Just when he was losing hope she was even anywhere near him, he saw her tentative approach. Panic, terror, pure fear was still written on her face. Tears ran down her cheeks from the most beautiful hazel eyes he had ever seen. The one light above her shown through her shoulder length curly ginger brown hair giving it a reddish golden glow almost like a halo.

“Sunshine,” he whispered. “Don’t be afraid of me. I would never harm you.” Ethan closed his eyes for a moment feeling the edge of the end reaching out for him. His Life Power was gone and his heart was giving out. It just figured he would finally meet the one woman who could have made the hell of his existence heaven and now he had to die.

“Please don’t die, Ethan.” Came the gentle request. He forced his eyes open to see Skye was now sitting on the ground next to him. The fear in her sweet face was gone but concern and the budding knowledge of who he was began to show in her features. “Hold on. We can get you to a hospital.”

Ethan reached toward her but she wrapped her arms around herself. Maybe she still did fear him. He didn’t know and was too weak to really care. He dropped his arm to the ground and looked away from her to his Sefu Element lying several feet away from him on the ground. Soon the Element would die without him and he knew he wasn’t too far behind it. Sadly he turned back toward her and tried to smile to reassure her. He figured the smile came out more as a grimace when she started to reach out to him this time.

“No. I can’t be taken to a hospital. It’s too dangerous Skye.” He croaked as the weakness and darkness began to overwhelm him completely. “Get to… get to safety. Save yourself. Leave me here. Please.”

Ethan couldn’t get anything more out. It was too hard to even breathe anymore. He didn’t want to leave her. Had just found her, damn it, but the voices of the Ancients were calling to him. As his consciousness slipped away he felt her small warm hand grasp his unharmed hand and the multi-leveled, multi-harmonic command of her soft voice as she demanded, “Stay with me, Ethan. I need you.”

Trust him.  How could Destinee trust him?  How could she trust anything?  Especially what she had just witnessed and what she was witnessing now.  Her mind was freaking, her heart was pounding, she couldn’t catch her breath, and there was no way in hell she was even capable of sane thoughts at the moment.  Distracted and lost, she just stared at him until from the corner of her eye, she saw the thing on the floor try and push upright.  The instant it moved she shot out the door with a speed she didn’t think she had.  She was sure Gabriel could have stopped her but instead he turned towards the creature swinging his sword in a violent downward swing.

As soon as her foot hit outside the door, Destinee slid across the mud soaked ground and went down in a splash of water.  In an instant she pushed back up on her feet winded from the effort and with a half sob, half curse dove into the knee deep water at the bottom of the incline where the shower house stood.  Struggling against the water swirling around her legs, the rain beating down on her head, and the wind that was whipping furiously against her she ran.  She ran away from the creature intent on killing her and away from Gabriel, whatever he might be.  The thought of running away from him hurt, though, and she slowed until she was standing in the middle of a world that had blown up and gone crazy around her.

If she could feel the tears running down her face she knew she would have brushed them away in fury.  But she couldn’t.  She was too soaked and freezing.  Wrapping her arms around her burning throbbing middle she just stood there until she heard the sloshing behind her.  Something in her snapped and she refused to go down without a fight.

Spinning around she faced whatever new threat was coming to attack with hands balled in fists at her side.  Instead of another grotesque creature, before her was Gabriel, standing only a few feet away from.  His sword was no longer in sight but the golden glow in his eyes and the knowledge of the fangs in his mouth brought her up short. He looked dejected and at the same time worried for her but he didn’t approach her any closer.  He just stood there in the pouring rain and the whipping wind as the trees twisted and shifted dangerously around them.  Conflicted, Destinee wasn’t sure if she wanted to fight him or throw herself into his arms.

As earlier, he reached out with his hand and pleaded with her,  “Please Destinee, we need to go.  They’re coming and I need to get you to safety.  I swear, I won’t hurt you.”

Destinee so wanted to reach out to him.  Everything in her called to wipe out the lonely expression that consumed him and even made the golden glow dim in his eyes.  But still she needed to know the truth.  Breathlessly she asked, “What are you Gabriel?  Are you vam…”

“No!”  He vehemently denied, his expression falling into the depths of despair even further.  “Don’t say that word.  I hate it.  What I am is a punishment for a past I am still paying for but I am not something humans have created in their minds.  I’m not like the Scythian demons.  I have control!”

She wasn’t sure how much control he really had but she believed him and strangely she didn’t fear him.  Even with the glow in his eyes that was fading further as he stood there appearing to try and get control of himself.  She could tell the inner battle he waged by the clench of his jaw and the balling of his hands into fists.  Even his strong shoulders shook with the effort but in only a few seconds the gold was gone and his sky blue eyes were looking back at her with barely concealed despair.  He thought she had already judged him and perhaps for a moment she had judged him but thinking on his kindness and the fact he had saved her multiple times now he couldn’t be evil.  Could he?

Closer than before Destinee heard the screams of the evil dead things answered by the creature in the shower building.  She shivered in revulsion just being able to see the almost beheaded evil dragging itself to the open door.  Wrapping her arms around herself Destinee felt the urge to cut and run again but stopped when Gabriel reached out to her.

“We don’t have any more time, Destinee.  Please let me get you out of here.  I can protect and keep you a live.  I swear it.”  He stood there waiting for her decision, never forcing her, with a desperation now creeping into his blue eyes.

Destinee just didn’t have it in her to deny him any longer.  Deep down she knew he wouldn’t harm her especially since he had risked himself and saved her already.  Not once, but three times now.  She was an idiot if she didn’t go with him.  The trust she had in him came back with a vengeance and meeting his eyes she demanded,  “Fine.  I believe you but you’ve got to tell me what the hell is going on.  Whatever the truth is.”

Gabriel nodded to her and said thickly,  “I will, I promise.  Just let me get you out of here.”

Feeling a large portion of the fear lift from her shoulders, Destinee stepped forward to grasp his hand.  As soon as she stepped forward the pull of the water at her legs, the exhaustion, and the light headedness from what she suspected was loss of blood got to her.  Her vision blurred and she started to go down, but just like that Gabriel scooped her up with no effort at all.  Spinning on his heal with ease, he cut through the water moving back over to his Harley in only a second.  The movement was so quick Destinee’s head spun which didn’t help her light headedness.

When he stopped by his Harley she felt him stiffen for a moment and then draw in a deep breath.  “Destinee are you injured?”  She didn’t say anything for a moment not wanting him to have to baby her again.  “Destinee answer me,” he demanded.

Happy Saint Patricks’ Day and Welcome to my blog!  With a last name of Murphy you know my household celebrates this particular Holiday with lots of green including beer.  And lots of good Irish food too.

A Heroine’s Fools Gold!

In Sphinx Resurrected, my leading heroine is Stormy who has suddenly been drawn into the realm of the Sphinx Warriors.  She is their last hope in a battle that has been waging for centuries against an evil presence determined to destroy the Earth.  Michael, leader of the Sphinx Warriors, starts her Transformation into a Power Keeper so ultimately Stormy will then be capable of transferring Life Power to the Warriors so they can continue to battle the evil Wraith who are trying to invade the Earth.  Stormy’s Fools Gold I would suppose is the fact everyone expects so much of her when she started out as but a mere mortal and the desire she feels for Michael who wants her but feels he has drawn her into his life against her will.  However, Stormy is strong in her determination to both succeed in her new life to help the Warriors in their fight and to win the heart of Michael and become his Power Mate.  Ultimately, she will get past the Fool’s Gold and tap into the true treasure of Gold that will make her life shine!

Here is a quick Synopsis for Sphinx Resurrected:

Complex 46 located in the Yuma Desert in Arizona is the site of secret genetics research for the one woman who can sustain the Sphinx Warriors in their fight against the Wraith. Stormy, found to be a genetic match, is abducted by a team of Warriors, led by the blue eyed Sphinx leader, Michael, who starts her Transformation and must Join with her to save her life.

Stormy must deal with her new surroundings, life, and expectations as a Power Keeper and Sphinx. Michael’s guidance and care give her more confidence than she has ever had and his passion leaves her hungering for more. Michael must lead his Warriors, battle the Wraith, and protect Stormy from the dark presence existing in the Complex. He keeps the secret of their Joining from her and struggles with his desire and need for her.

Michael and Stormy’s undeniable attraction to each other will bring them closer together as nothing else can. Even with their internal struggles and the challenges they must survive, their need for each other is incredibly strong and will make them more powerful together than apart. They will need to join as Sphinx Warriors and Power Mates to beat the odds and defend against the threat of the Wraith.
